Rugged Luxury! The Lodge at Black Rapids is a new 10 room 7300 sq ft timber framed lodge in the heart of the Alaska Range, 227.4 Richardson Highway, 2.5 hrs s of Fairbanks! Highway accessible, private baths, incredible views, glaciers, wildlife viewing....hiking, fishing, northern lights!

The Lodge at Black Rapids, has revived and reinvented a landmark alpine outpost in the Alaska Range at mile 227.4 of the Richardson Highway. Once the site of a rude, trailside refuge for Gold Rush pioneers, Black Rapids now boasts a beautiful, new timber frame lodge on the bluff overlooking that original "Rapids Roadhouse". At the gateway to some of the most accessible alpine wilderness in the state, the new Lodge at Black Rapids aspires to be a premier four-season retreat and will offer the necessary safe haven, guides, and support guests might need by way of introduction to this wild and scenic place. Indoors, the Lodge at Black Rapids features the quiet luxury of a private alpine hide-away. Fireplaces, library reading rooms, "heavenly" beds, and intimate dining await today's alpine adventurer. Down by the river - and highway - the hundred-year-old Rapids Roadhouse, once completely restored and refurbished, will become a unique portal to the past for passersby. Pioneers and mountaineers alike will find space for their stories on the walls of a specialized gift shop and frontier-style dining facility.

The Lodge at Black Rapids is designed to be a full-service, four-season alpine destination for its guests. On the two main floors, the Lodge will offer six private rooms each with expansive scenic views. Each room will feature a distinctive artistic touch, a queen-size heavenly bed, convertible twin-bed sofa, and private bath. In addition, the lower level offers two large rooms flanking a meeting room with a handsome stone fireplace. These convertible rooms with shared bathroom facilities can provide flexible accommodations for families and groups as large as twenty members. We will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner to our overnight guests - dining for others by reservation - and a wide variety of recreational and educational activities winter and summer. While we will cater to independent "Outside" visitors, the natural beauty of the surroundings and ease of access promise to make Black Rapids a sought-after site for Interior Alaskan getaways and rendezvous.
